---- — Shelbyville boys track and Central A&M girls track notched wins on Tuesday at a Shelbyville home meet featuring Okaw Valley Conference foes.

Shelbyville boys scored 110 points, followed by Central A&M (73), St. Teresa (56), Sullivan-Okaw Valley (54), and Meridian (37). Central A&M girls scored 126.5 points, followed by St. Teresa (112), Shelbyville (61), SOV (55.5), and Meridian (8).

Some of the teams were not at full strength due to scheduling conflicts with baseball and softball. It was still a good working meet in what has been a long winter with an inclement early spring hampering outdoor meets.

Shelby boys rode their distance runners to victory, while A&M girls used their versatility to claim victory.

Shelbyville won the 3200 relay (8:42.3) and won the mile relay (3:43.1). They had the first four finishers in the 3200 run. Tyler Pasley won (10:28.8), followed by Jaden Stockdale (10:39.1), Drew Snider (11:40.7) and Erik Bowers (11:58.3).

Shelby was #1, #2, #4, #5 in the mile. Marcus Skinner won (4:39.5), followed by Drennian Martin (4:46.2). Kent Wilson was 4th (4:52.9) and Pasley 5th (4:55.3). They went #1 and #2 in the 800 with Martin (2:14.2) and Jordan Sieger (2:15.1) and #2, #3 in the 400 with Preston Henze (55.2) and Hunter Plummer (56.5).

Shelby also scored well in some field events. Mikel Welton won the shot put (45-10) and Jordan Smith was 2nd in the high jump (6-0). Garrett Ferguson and Welton tied in the discus (114-11).

The Central A&M boys’ strength was in the sprints and hurdles. Jason Pokalsey swept the sprints. He won to 100 (10.7), the 200 (23.2), and the 400 (51.9). Zach Ballinger swept the hurdles and long jump. He won the 110 hurdles (16.7), the 300 hurdles (46.3), and clearing 20 feet the long jump (20-2).

CAM were in the hunt in the weights, though not winning. Trent Chepan was 2nd in the shot put (41-4), while Ryan Houser was 2nd in the discus (120-2).

SOV’s strength was in the triple jump and pole vault, winning both. Uphoff (36-7) and Lehman (34-5) went #1, #2 in the triple, while Davis won the pole vault (10-6), followed by Hogan (10-0). SOV’s Schlieker also won the discus (134-11).

CAM girls won the 3200 relay (11:01.58) and the 1600 relay (4:31) and was 2nd in the 400 relay (53.36). Ryan Dooley (16.79) and Kaitlin Villanueva (17.72) were #1, #2 in the 100 hurdles and Paige Seitz (52.33) and Villanueva (53.19) were #2, #3 in the 300 hurdles.

Morgan Damery and Mikah Maples traded #1, #2 slots in the discus and shot. Damery won shot (37-9.5) and Maples was 2nd (36-0). Maples was 1st in the discus (112-6) and Damery 2nd (99-5). Mikaela Cole won the pole vault against a difficult wind (8-0).

Jorgi Sparrgrove contended with the top SOV sprinters. She was 2nd (12.84) to Emily Neuhauser (12.73) in the 100 dash. Sparrgrove (27.81) was 3rd to McClain (26.16) and Neuhauser (26.37) in the 200 dash. Sparrgrove won the quarter (1:01.5) without state runner-up Amanda McClain competing. Sparrgrove’s teammate, Dooley, placed 3rd (1:02.86).

SOV won three of the six field events. Megan Dash beat former IESA 7-2A state champ Sydney Miller of Shelbyville in the high jump. Dash went 5-3, while Miller finished at 4-10.

McClain won the long jump by almost two feet (16-6.5). State medalist Mollie Bowman won the triple jump (32-11.5).

Shelbyville showed their strength in the distances. Molly Yockey (12:55) and Maggy Yockey (13:32) went #1, #2 in the 3200 and the team was 2nd in the 3200 relay (11:25.16). They were 2nd in the 1600.
