---- — The Lady Rams leveled the Hilltoppers on Thursday, as Shelby strutted their stuff at home, winning 18-2.

Shelby exploded with an 8-run rally in the 1st and an 8-run rally in the 4th to hammer Hillsboro.

Madison Boone threw out two of the first three batters she faced and Kayla Brachbill threw out the other batter in the 1st. The Rams then lit the fuse.

Courtney Williams led off with a single and Brachbill smacked an RBI-double. With two outs, Rachel Fox started another run at the cycle with an RBI-single.

Jensen Cloe drew a walk and Maddie Holland clubbed the first of her two doubles. Torre Koontz reached on an error and Lindsey Eigsti walked.

Williams came up for the second time in the inning and smacked an RBI-double. Brachbill came up again and hit an RBI-single for the 8-0 lead.

Boone KO'd the first Hillsboro batter in the 2nd, then gave up a single. Brachbill squeezed a pop up for the 2nd out, but a dropped 3rd strike opened the door for a Hilltopper score. A fielder's choice RBI made it 8-1.

Shelby went in order on fly balls in the 2nd. After a lead-off walk in the H'boro 3rd, Boone got two batters to fly out, then rang up the next batter.

Shelby got back to scoring in the 3rd. Holland hit her second double in a row to lead off. Koontz singled and Eigsti hit another double. With two runners in scoring position, Williams grounded out, but drove in a run. Brachbill reached on a fielder's choice and sent another run home, 10-1.

Hillsboro counted coup again in the 4th, but it did little to change fate. A lead-off single was followed by a single. A fielder's choice scored a run, but recorded an out. Boone rang up the next batter, but another single stuffed the bags. A ground out ended the only real H'boro threat.

Shelby eliminated the hope of a comeback in the bottom of the 4th inning with a 7-run eruption.

Brandy Smith led off with a single and Fox doubled. Cloe hit an RBI-single and Holland hit an RBI-single. Koontz got the fifth straight hit of the inning, then Eigsti walked.

Williams was hit by a pitch and was the seventh straight batter to reach base. After a pop out, Shelby had an out on the base paths.

Boone hit an RBI-single, Smith came up again in the inning and hit an RBI-single. Fox then launched an RBI-triple. It was the 2nd game in a row that Fox hit just a home run short of the cycle.

Shelby led 18-2 and Hillsboro needed seven runs just to avoid the 10-run early dismissal. However, Smith threw out the first batter from short. After a walk, Boone threw out the next batter on a comebacker to the mound. The last batter hit to Brachbill at 2nd and she threw the batter out to end the game.

Shelby had six batters with multiple hits. Fox was 3-for-4 with a single, double, and triple. Holland was 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles. Williams was 2-for-3 with a double. Brachbill was 2-for-4 with a double, and Eigsti was 1-for-1 with a double.
