Stifal, Stevens Take Latest ITT

The latest Illini Team Trail Bass tournament on Lake Shelbyville, June 2, was won by the team of Scott Stifal and Jon Stevens.

1st place winners, Stifal and Stevens came from nowhere to catch the limit of five fish, weighing 12.66 pounds as four different teams were within a pound of each other in the close competition. Stifal and Stevens caught the second place Big Bass of the day (3.71 pounds). They scored 112.66 points, placing them 40th in the rankings of the 56 teams. Stifal and Stevens didn’t catch a fish in the 1st or 2nd events.

2nd place finishers, Kevin Arbaugh and Dewayne Schultz came in 2nd with five fish (12.39 pounds), just .27 pounds less than the winners. Their Big Bass was 3.38 pounds. They received 111.39 points and vaulted them into 1st place in the division points race at the halfway mark.

3rd place finishers were Jim Carroll and Matt Carroll, catching the limit (12.19 pounds), less than half a pound under the winning weight. The Carrolls had the Big Bass of the day at 3.96 pounds. Their 110.19 points put them in 20th place in the points race (191.87 points).

Greg Coleman and Travis Gillett caught the limit, weighing 11.63 and Bret Jezek and Wes Cummins were 5th with a limit weighing 11.56 pounds.John Wright and Dan Ruedi had a 10.3 pound limit to tie for 6th. Their 105 points from the latest event has them in 3rd place in the points race (290.03). May ITT winners Greg Harkins and Jack Montgomery were 19th, catching four fish at 7.47 pounds. They stand in 13th place for total points (215.37) with three events left.

The next event in the Northern Division (Lake Shelbyville) will be held on June 30 out of Eagle Creek.
