SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville baseball went 2-0 at the Clinton Invite on Saturday and got back to .500 (6-6). They beat Tri-Valley, 11-6, then won their second game over North Mac, 14-5.
Shelby spun the revolving door at home plate, scoring 25 runs on Saturday. The Rams started off with an 8-run 1st against Tri-Valley and set the tone.
Spencer Shadwell took the hill for Shelby and got the win, going four innings and leaving with a 10-2 lead. He saw four batters in the 1st, one walked.
The first four batters for the Rams reached base and scored. Spencer Shadwell led off with a single, Lucas Duckett reached on an error, Garrettv Brachbill walked and Luke McConnell singled two men home.
After an out, Brett Peifer, Sheldon Meyer, Ryan Stenger, and Bart Kennell were issued four straight walks. Shadwell came back up in the 1st and hit an RBI-single. Duckett then cranked a 2-run double for the 8-0 lead.
Shadwell put TV down in order in the 2nd on a pop up to McConnell at 3rd, a comebacker to the mound and a strikeout. Shelby went in ord4er.
In the 3rd, a walk, a fielder's choice, a walk and a single scored two TV runs, but Zach Williams squeezed a fly ball to end the small rally.
The TV pitcher was rocky to start the Ram 3rd. Ryan Stenger walked, Bart Kennell was hit by a pitch and Shadwell walked. Duckett hit a bases loaded single and Brachbill hit a bases loaded single. McConnell grounded out, but a run scored to make it, 11-2.
Tri-Valey trimmed the lead in the 5th with three runs off reliever Garrett Brachbill. A hit, a hit batter, and error and a singlem ade it 11-5. Shelby couldn't get a run in the rest of the way, but they only allowed one more opposing run.
