Ruff Runs Table At SHC

---- — Lloyd Ruff was back on top last Thursday at the Shelbyville Horseshoe Club, running the table, going 7-0 with his bye.

Ruff had been in the mix the last few weeks, but couldn’t get the brass ring. Thursday was his night.

After a close call that Ruff won 30-27, Ruff was untouchable. He won 30-11, 30-7, 30-7, 30-5,and 30-10.

Stephens was 2nd at 5-2. Stephens won some close matches to be in the mix.

But, an early loss, 30-27. knocked him out of contention against Ruff.

Stephens beat Rich Galvin, 30-25, beat George Mose 30-28. Lost to Ruff 30-7, then rolled down the stretch, winning 30-2 and 30-11.

Goerge Mose had his best night of the season, taking 3rd, going 4-3, including a bye. Mose rolled 30-5, dropped a 2-point match to Stephens, then won 30-15 and 30-16.

Ruff roughed him up, 30-5, then Mose lost a heart breaker 30-29, again to Stephens.

Mose was joined by Rich Galvin and Dorothy Hack with 4-3 records.

However, Mose had 62 points in his losses to take 3rd, Galvin had 56 points to take 4th, and Hack had 20 points in loss to settle for 5th.

The Shelbyville Horseshoe Club will pitch on Wednesday night, July 3, this week, due to the holiday. SHC normally pitches weekly tournaments every Thursday night beginning about 7 p.m. at their courts across the railroad tracks from the corner of North 12th Street and North Morgan in Shelbyville.

Local guests and visitors to Lake Shelbyville are welcome.
