Raiders Bow At Sectional

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Central A&M softball, despite being regional champions with a sub.500 record, had the lead at sectional going into the 6th inning, then Oblong squared off  and stormed back to send the overachieving Raiders home, 4-1.

"We wiggled out of bases loaded jams in the 1st and 2nd inning and then took a 1 to 0 lead in the 3rd after Taylor Jordan lead off with a single and Morgan Damery followed with a 2-out RBI single.

With one out in the 6th and a runner on, Oblong's Lockart  hit a 2-run home run to take the lead. Dunlop and Allen followed with consecutive walks. A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly made it 3-1. A passed ball allowed the fourth Oblong run.

Allison Kresin singled with two outs in the CAM 6th, but was stranded. Lexee Smith pitched the 7th inning for A&M and  got the first Oblong batter in the 7th to ground out to Taylor Jordan, short to 1st. The next batter flew out to

A&M had one more at bat to extend their season. However, a strikeout and two grounders to the mound were an anti-climactic finish.

Taylor Jordan had the big hit of the game for the Raiders. She was 2-for-3, being hit by a pitch, hitting a single and scoring, then blasting a triple in the 5th with one out. But, she was left on base. Olivia Jordan had the other single of the five Raider hits.
