Shelby 7th Volleyball Loses Two

Shelby 7th ran into a buzz saw against Mt. Zion and was thumped 6-25, 23-25, on Friday, before playing a gut-check match against Warrensburg on Saturday and losing, 21-25, 26-28.

Mt. Zion saw Shelby comin' and blitzed them in game, 25-6. Game 2 was different as the Rams competed, but still lost by two, 25-23.

"We did show up to play for that 1st game," said Ram 7th coach Elizabeth Fanning. "The 2nd game, however, the girls rallied back just not soon enough."

Hannah Kemp led Shelby in defeat serving 11 points and delivering on eight aces. She had 1 kill and 1  block. She also led the team with digs. Emma Beck served eight points and Lauren Russell had five points, a kill and joined Kemp as a leading digger.

The next day the Rams suffered the same fate, although they were closer.

"The girls played much better today," Coach Fanning said. "We still started out slow and tried to rally back. Looking forward to keep seeing these girls improve."

Lauren Russell led the way with 15 points and six kills. Kemp had five points and two kills. Isabel Logue dished seven assists towards the nine kills. She also served nine points, 1 ace. Elizabeth Bowyer also had nine points, 2 aces, and a kill.
