Ram 8th 3rd, Ram 7th 4th At Conference

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Last weekend, Shelbyville 7th grade volleyball had made progress, but injuries hurt them in the conference tourney, as they finished 4th. Ram 8th came in as the 5th seed, but beat their seed, finishing 3rd.

"We ended up getting 4th place in the Okaw Valley Tourney," said Ram 7th coach Elizabeth Fanning. "We playeed very well against Meridian. We ended up having some injuries and couldn't get those "W's" against Maroa and Clinton."

Shelby 7th had five players in double figures against Meridian, one with a near double-double and one with a near triple-double in the 3 game set.

Hannah Kemp had 19 points, nine aces against Clinton and Isabel Logue had 16 points, 7 aces, 8 assists. Lauren Russell served 14 points, Jayde Fox 11, and Malori Johns 10.

Kemp and Russell led at the net with five kills and two blocks, each. Elizabeth Bowyer swung for four kills and three blocks.

After the win over Meridian, Kemp served eight points with two aces against Maroa and Russell served seven points and three aces. But then injuries hampered the Rams as they lost game 1 and lost badly in game 2.

Kemp was noticebaly absent from the stats against Clinton, serving just one point. Logue and Emma Beck took up some slack at the line. Beck served nine points and two aces, while Logue had eight points, 2 aces. Game 1 was cloe, but game to saw the Rams fade.
