W/SS Beats Dieterich Late

Windsor/Stew-Stras (7-3, 3-2 NTC) knocked off Ramsey, 6-1 on Saturday, then nipped Dieterich with a walk-off RBI single, 3-2.

W/SS used a 3-run rally to get separation from Ramsey on Saturday. They took a 1-run lead in the 2nd and held it until the top of the 5th behind the pitching of Nic Hutchinson, who threw a 1-hitter, walking two and striking out 10 batters through five innings. In the top of the 5th, W/SS pushed ahead, 4-0.

Ramsey finally got on the board in the bottom of the 6th with a solo run. W/SS came right back in the top of 7th and got that run plus one more back to cap the scoring at 6-1.

The game was decided by timely hitting by W/SS. Ramsey's starter, Wesselman, only gave up two hits and struck out seven in six innings. However, he walked seven and W/SS was able to get the hits and draw walks when they could score runs.

Alex Allen led the W/SS hit squad, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Christian Vonderheide was 0-for-1, but scored twice and drove in a run. Derek Moschenrose had the other W/SS hit.

Windsor/Stew-Stras (7-3, 3-2 NTC) was to play host to West Richland at Stew-Stras on Thursday.
