A&M loses Senior Night

Central A&M lost to the Meridian Hawks this past Friday night 42-27 at home on their senior night in their last game of the season.

The Raiders finished the season 1-8 with their lone victory against Shelbyville this season. CAM had low expectations this season due to the loss of players from last season’s 9-2 squad.

CAM started the game off well from the start with a 88 yard kick return touchdown by Zach Ballinger and then later a 85 yard run touchdown by Jason Pokalsey.

Going into the second quarter the Raiders were leading the Hawks 13-8, but then Meridian scored 22 straight points to take over the game and momentum.

Cam did not score another point until the fourth quarter when caught a 43 yard pass from Miles Neilson to make the game 36-20 after the extra point.

Meridian scored again when Jacob Lindsey picked-off Miles Neilson for a 34 yard interception return.

The Raiders were able to score again on a Trenton Chepan 6 yard touchdown run, but fell short of making the game close.

With the season over for the Raiders, they now go into an offseason full of questions on whether they can compete in the Okaw Valley Conference next year.

With younger guys a year older the team hopes to improve. Those players now move on to different sports and hope to become better student-athletes over the next year.
