Three former Shelby Area athletes played basketball in 2014 at Lincoln Land College.
Luke Moore, who played basketball at Cowden-Herrick, and Jake Stombaugh, who played basketball at Beecher City then transferred to Effingham, both played basketball at Lincoln Land. Drew Levitt, who was a Beecher City teammate of Stombaugh's, also transferred to Effingham before going on to Lincoln Land to play baseball.
Luke Moore is the son of Rebecca and Todd Moore. He is a graduate of Cowden-Herrick high school.
In high school, he was named 1st team NTC Conference three years. He was named the MVP in the EIC Conference two years and scored 1000 points during his high school career. Luke would like to be a utility lineman.
At Lincoln Land College, Moore, a 6-2 forward, played in 11 games as a freshman (2013-14). He averaged 5.6 minutes a game and scored a total of 15 points. He shot 46% from 2-point range, 25% from the arc and 67% from the free throw line.
Jake Stombaugh is the son of Jody Stombaugh and Stacey Bowlin. He is a graduate of Effingham high school.
His senior year he was named 1st team All-Apollo Conference, 1st team Salem tournament and 2nd team Centralia Holiday tournament.
Stombaugh, a 6-6 forward, played in 31 games as a freshman at Lincoln Land averaging 16 minutes a game. He scored a total of 120 points and snared 111 rebounds. He shot 48% from 2-point range, 27.3% from the arc, and 72% from the free throw line.
Drew Levitt is the son of Carol and Ed Levitt majoring in Criminal Justice. He is a 2013 graduate of Effingham High School.
In high school, during his freshman and sophomore years he was named all-conference for baseball and basketball. His junior year he was named all-conference for baseball and his senior year all-conference for baseball and football.
As a freshman at Lincoln Land, Levitt hit .288, playing in 38 games. He had 32 hits in 111 at bats, with four doubles and a home run. He drove in 13 runs. He walked 20 times, was hit by a pitch five times and he struck out 25 times. He stole 5 of 7 bases attempted.
His on-base percentage was .413 and his slugging percentage was .351. His fielding percentage was .938 with 62 put outs and 75 assists.
