SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville had St. Anthony where they wanted them to start the 4th quarter in Thursday's matinee at the Vandalia Holiday Tourney. Then the Bulldogs turned verocious and Shelby was dog meat. Shelby faded in the heat of a 24-11 final run and lost by just six, 55-49.

Shelby had a 3-point lead after one, 15-12 and held on to a 1-point lead at the break, 25-24. In the 3rd period Shelby shut down the Dawgs and posted a 13-7 to take an 7-point lead heading into crunch time, 38-31.

But the Dawgs wriggled off the spit and attacked, wilding the Rams with a 24-11 run.

Once again, the Rams tried to win with 3-pointers, shooting 22 treys. They made eight to St. Anthony's one, giving them a 21-point advantage from the arc.

However, the Rams only got 4 of their 49 points from the post with only 22 points coming inside the 3-point line. They did shoot 71% inside in the 1st half and 65% for the game. They only shot nine free throws, making only three.

St. Anthony got 40 of their points inside the arc ( an 18-point edge inside) and another 12 from the free throw line. They had a 9-point edge at the line in a come-from-behind 6-point win.

Spencer Shadwell and Drennian Martin led the Rams in defeat with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Martin got 12 of his 13 points from the arc. Shadwell made a pair of treys. Inside-out man Cwenton Williams, stepped out for two treys, but only added two more points inside.

Shelby had two men in double figures, while St. Anthony had balanced scoring with four men in double-digits. WIlliams had 16, Hoelscher with 11, and Gardewine and Goeckner with 10, each.

The Rams were out-rebounded 26 to 20 and committed 20 turnovers, while St. A had just 13.
