Lowery Signs To Play At Kakaskia

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Central A&M’s top outside hitter Kylie Lowery signed to play volleyball at Kaskaskia College recently, giving Coach Kim Rahar another Shelby County athlete for her volleyball program.

“She had 75 kills, 37 blocks and 39 aces and was conference Honorable Mention two years and 1st Team OVC this year,” said Kaskaskia Coach Kim  Rahar. “She came to try out and we were looking for an outside. She stood out to me and to our other players for her skills, her ability, and her versatility.”

Coach Rahar counts on the opinion of her existing players and looks for new players who fit into the team.

“It is good for me to have someone they are comfortable with.”

Lowery said her Rapid Fire club coach Lisa Peifer introduced her to Coach Rahar.

“I like the other girls playing there,” Lowery said.

“I like the coach. Kelsie Stauder (SHS) is there and Alyssa Hudson (SHS) is going there. I wanted to keep playing volleyball. I’m pretty pumped!”

Two other girls are there from Coach Lisa Peifer’s Rapid Fire club team, where Lowery played for three years.

“Coach Peifer had did a great deal for me,” Lowery said.

“When she first came she was very dynamic, had a lot of potential and power,” Coach Peifer said. “We got her down there and she’s been playing ever since. She was really good for us. Every year you see the extra time she puts in.”

A&M’s coach Tara Daniels moved up to head coach this past year and she appreciated Lowery’s ability.

“She led in kills and aces and was second to the middle in block,” Coach Daniels said. “She’s a hard worker. She came to all the summer workouts and wanted to learn more. She wanted to get her jump serve down pat and improve herself.”
