Tolono Holds Off Rams

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — After knocking off St. Teresa on Tuesday, the Shelbyville Rams couldn't pull a rabbit out of the hat twice in a row and lost at Tolono on Friday to end the regular season, 56-47.

Tolono opened up with a 17-9 run. The Rams have come back from a low-scoring 1st before, as recenty as Tuesday night. But not on this night.

Shelby trimmed the 8-point lead by one in the 2nd to trail, 29-22, at the half. The trimmed the led again y a point in the 3rd to trail by six heading into the 4th, 42-36.

They were within striking distance, but didn't strike a winning blow. Tolono stiffened there defense in the 4th and the Rams ran out of time, losing by nine. 

Ram center Brody Bence led the Rams with 17 points and Darin Breeden followed with 13. But the Rams were less than stellar at the line, shooting just 8-of-13, despite Breeden making all three of his foul shots.

The Rams made just one triple (Standrefer), while Tolono scattered five 3-pointers.

Shelbyville (#3) plays in the Auburn Regional on Monday against Meridian (#6) at 7:30 p.m.
