Dieterich Downs Cowden-Herrick

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Dieterich, an NTC juggernaut, had their way with Cowden-Herrick on Friday, winning 87-38.

Hinterscher and Bonhoff out-scored the Hornets by themselves combining for 44 points. Hinterscher scored 26, including five 3-pointers. Bonhoff had 18, including four treys. Dieterich sent a sortie of 12 patriots from the arc right down the Hornets chimney. Traub had three triples and finished with 11 points.

Cowden-Herrick had two players in double figures, senior Luke Moore and freshman Colton Burrus. Moore had 16 points, including two treys, while Burrus had 12 points with a trey hat trick. They didn't get much else.

Dieterich destroyed C-H early with a 26-2 run. The Hornets finally got their feet under them in the 2nd, but the Maroons still launched a 29-9 run, to go up by 44 points at the break, 55-11.

Cowden-Herrick scored 11 in the 3rd, but Dieterich still extended their lead with a 22-point period. Heading into the final destination, Dieterich was up by 53 points, 77-24. The Maroons called off the dogs and the Hornets took the 4th, a minor moral victory as they still lost by 49 points.

Cowden-Herrick (15-11), the #3 seed, plays Tuesday in the St. Elmo Regional against #6 seeded Brownstown at  7:30 p.m.
