SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

It appeared that host Central A&M's IHSA Class A girls track sectional championship streak would stop at six. But upon further review of the team tallies, the Raiders had won their 7th straight regional championship by a single point.

The events were over, the results were in, but there was a malfunction in the tallying of team points. When the dust settled or rather, when everyone had a chance to dry out, Central A&M had won the meet over rival St. Teresa, 131 to 130.

Initially, the tally had St. Teresa winning on points 143 to 137. But on the recount, the Raiders got the win and the St. Teresa coach concurred. Though some newspapers unknowingly published the error, the IHSA website had the correct team results.

Central A&M (131) was followed by rival St. Teresa (130), while the rest of the field trailed behind. Sullivan-Okaw Valley was a solid 3rd with 78 points, followed by a clump of also-rans. Marshall was 4th (37) and Pana 5th (35). Arcola was 6th (34) and Windsor and Arthur tied for 7th (33). Tuscola was 9th (17), Shelbyville 10th (12), followed by Niantic (7), Villa Grove (6), Oakland (4), Cerro Gordo (4).

Central A&M and St. Teresa qualified 11 entries for state, each. Sullivan-Okaw Valley qualified seven entries, Windsor three and Pana one. A&M won five events and was #1, #2 in three of those. St. Teresa won four events and went #1, #2 in two of them. SOV won four events and was #1, #2 in one.

A&M went #1, #2 in the 100 and 300 hurdles with Taylor Adcock and Kaitlyn Corzine in  both hurdles and in the discus with Genny Rose Stringer (130-02) and Mikah Maples (114-09).

Taylor Adcock (CAM) won three individual events. She won the 100 dash (12.64), the 100 hurdles (15.5), and 300 hurdles (46.38). She was shadowed by teammate Kaitlyn Corzine in both hurdle events (15.53, 46.8). Corzine will also go to State in two relays, for a total of four entries.

Corzine was on the winning 4x4 with Ryan Dooley, Sarah Bailey, and Mikaela Cole (4:10.41). She was also on the 2nd place 4x1 with Dooley, Bailey, and Jorgi Sparrgrove (52.06). In addition to Bailey's two relays, going to State, she also won the sectional triple jump title (32-9.25).

Mikaela Cole is going to State in two events, on the 1st place 4x1 and in the pole vault, placing 2nd (9-3).

Amanda McClain (SOV) won three individual events and will go to State in four. She won the 200 dash (25.88), 400 dash (58.92), and the long jump (16-5.5). Her fourth win was on the 4x2 relay with Mollie Bowman, Erika Tomczewski, and Emily Neuhauser (1:48.69).

Neuhauser will go to State in three events. In addition to the winning 4x2, Neuhauser was 2nd in the 200 (26.26) and a qualifying 3rd in the 100 dash (12.96). Mollie Bowman will go in the 4x2 and also in the triple jump, placing 2nd (32-9).

Jenny Bullock, a perennial qualifier, is returning to state in two events. She was 2nd in the 100 dash (12.76) and 2nd in the long jump (16-0). She will be joined by teammate Katie Hostetter, who won the high jump title (5-0).

Pana has one state entry, Charley Lett, who won the sectional pole vault title, based on fewer misses (9-3).

Shelbyville has one state entry. Morgan Powers has stood out in the 800 all year and she ran a 5th place, state-qualifying time of 2:24.83.
