SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Tyler Hendryx had a much better performance in his 2nd outing, but took a tough 1-run loss in the 8th inning at Dieterich, 2-1.
Hendryx had control probelms in his first outing, but on Monday he out-lasted the Dieterich starter, walking just four batters and giving up only three hits in 7 and 2/3s innings, while striking out 15.
He retired Dieterich in order in three innings. One of thos innings had one K, another had two Ks, and the third one had three Ks.
Shelby went in order in the 1st, thenHendryx gave up a lead-off walk in the bottom of the inning. Bart Kennell snagged a line drive and threw the base runner out. Hendryx rang up the next batter.
Kennell hit a 2-ouit single in the 2nd, but was stranded. Dieterich took a 1-run lead in the 2nd in the pitcher's duel.
Hendryx gave up a lead-off walk. A ground out and a 3-unassisted out allowed the runner to get to 3rd. A wild pitch allowed the score before Hendryx rang up the third out.
Zach Williams hit a 1-out single in the 3rd and stole 2nd. Garrett Brachbill walked. Two pop outs stranded the runners.
Hendryx got the first two batters in the Maroon 3rd to ground out to Kennell and Brachbill, then KO'd the next batter to put them down in order.
Lucas Duckett abd Brett Peifer both walked to start the Ram 4th. However, after a strike out, Duckett was out on the base paths and the next batter grounded out.
Hendryx retired Dieterich in order in the 4th, as Dylan Patch squeezed a fly ball and Hendryx rang up the next two batters.
Shelby went in order in the 5th. Dieterich had one runner who reached on a dropped 3rd strike with two outs, but he was stranded by a Hendryx K.
