W/SS Loses To Teutopolis

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — After losing their home opener, then winning six straight, the Windsor/Stew-Stras baseball team dropped a game on Tuesday to Teutopolis, 12-6.

T'town drew first blood with a pair of runs in the 1st. Windsor tied it in the next half, 2-2. Teutopolis went up 4-2 in the 3rd and added a 3-spot in the 4th to lead 7-2. W/SS got one back in the 5th and then had a 3-run 6th to make it a 1-run ball game, 7-6. But, T'town answered with a 5-run rally in the bottom of the inning to pull away 12-6.

Ben Helton threw his first loss of the season for W/SS. Helton went three innings and gave up four runs and left the mound trailing 4-2. He threw one strikeout and one walk, but gave up seven hits. Waldhoff got the win, going five innings, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks, while striking five.

Teutopolis pounded out 14 hits to W/SS' nine. Christian Vonderheide, Justin Fulk and Gunner Theis had two hits each for  W/SS. Fulk and Vonderheide had an RBI each and Theis scored twice. Alex Allen failed to hit safely for the first time this season.

Wendling, Wenthe and Goldstein all went 3-for-4 for T'town. Wendling and Wenthe scored three times each, while Pruemer drove in three runs. Wenthe and Goldstein had two RBIs apiece. Waldhoff was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
