W/SS Comes Back To Beat Sullivan


Once again, Windsor/Stew-Stras was out-hit, but got the win, knocking off OVC combatant Sullivan on Monday, 5-4. On Wednesday, W/SS they fell again to 2A Effingham, 7-2.

Sullivan out-hit W/SS 8 to 6, but W/SS got one more runner home for the win. Only three W/SS players hit safely. Christian Vonderheide had half of their hits, going 3-for-3 and scoring once. Gunner Theis went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Brandon Helmuth got the other hit, going 1-for-3 with a runs scored.

Stew-Stras players not only led W/SS in hitting, but they also provided the winning pitcher. Dylan Ohnesorge threw four scoreless, hitless innings, coming in when W/SS was down 4-1. Ohnesorge allowed just two hits and one walk, while striking out two.

Sullivan scored two in the 1st and then two in the 3rd, lead 4-0. W/SS finally got a run in the bottom of the 3rd. Ohnesorge came in and shut Sully down. The W/SS hitters them went to work and had their own pair of 2-run innings in the 5th and 6th to take a 1-run lead and go on to win.

Shelbyville was able to beat Effingham, 1-0 last week. But W/SS wasn't able to hit and lost, 7-2

The only W/SS batter to get a hit was Gunner Theis, driving in one run. W/SS did receive five free passes from Effy starter Braydon Bone. Alex Allen and Tristan Warner were the only W/SS base runners to cross home plate. Hayden Cole didn't get a hit, but he did drive in the other W/SS run.

    Central A&M blew out Eisenhower on Monday, 13-1, only to lose a squeaker to Sullivan on Tuesday, 2-1, then blowing out Mt. Pulaski on Wednesday, 11-1.

    Sullivan-Okaw Valley track usually challenges Central A&M girls and boys, but on Tuesday they beat them in Sullivan. SOV boys won (100), Central A&M was 2nd (49) and Warrensburg 3rd (30). SOV girls won (73) and CAM was 2nd (62).
