Ram Track Wins Triangle

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

The Shelby boys were in a fight with Maroa and Meridian without the dual sport baseball players, but the Rams stil proved to be better than their competition. The Lady Rams weren't tested as much, as they ran away with the meet.

Shelby girls scored 91 points, while Meridian had just 28 and Maroa only 14. The Shelby boys had a 17-point margin of victory with 69 points. Maroa had 54 and Meridian 45.

The Lady Rams overpowered their opponents. They took all four spots in the 800, all three spots in the 1600, the top two spots in the 400, the top two in the triple jump and the high jump. Those accounted for half of their points, 45 of 91.

In addition, the Lady Rams won the 4x8, the 100 dash, the 300 hurdles, the 200 dash and the 4x4. Those accounted for another 25 points. Shelby won four of the five field events. 

Morgan Powers and Keeley Buhrmester won three events, each. Megan Martin, Sadie Goralski, Blair Johnston, and Sadie Spears won one event, each. 

The Ram distance boys led the way in their meet. The 4x8 beat Meridian by over a minute, 5 points. In the 1600, Meridian won the race by just 2.5 seconds, while Marcus Skinner took 2nd, Jaden Stockdale 3rd, and Seth Applegate 4th places, 6 points. In the 400 run, Myles Foor was 1st and Cory Powers 2nd, 8 points. 

In the 800, Drennian Martin was 2nd and Alex Matlock 4th, 4 points. In the 3200, Shelby took the first three places. Applegate was 1st, Stockdale 2nd and Erik Bowers 3rd, 10 points. That's 33 of the Rams 69 points.

Shelby won three field events and was 2nd in another one. Mikel Welton swept the weights, throwing 41 feet in the shot and 114 in the discus. Garrett Ferguson made it #1, #2 in the shot. Shelby got 13 points in the weights. 

Darin Breeden won the high jump, cleaing six feet and Kurtis Cameron was 2nd in the triple jump. That added 8 points. Shelby was 2nd in both the 4x1 and 4x2, 6 points.
