Shelby Legion sweeps St. Anthony

(Continued)

Another double play stopped the St. Anthony roll. Vonderheide caught a liner and threw to 1st. St. Anthony only had four base runners the rest of the game.

Shelby had the bases loaded in the 6th and two men in scoring position in the 8th, but Gardewine responded with strikeouts and a shortstop unassisted play.

In the 9th, Gardewine threw his 10th strikeout. Then four straight batters got hits. Trevor Moore singled. Baker singled. Vonderheide singled. With the bases loaded an one out, Keown singled in the go-ahead run, 3-2. A pop out to Williams at short and throw to the plate ended the Shelby 9th.

In the bottom of the 9th, Keown rang up the first two batters, both on 2-2 pitches. The next batter popped up, Keown squeezed it and Shelby got the win.
