Shelby Jr. Legion hosted Teutopolis on Tuesday and staged a blowout comeback in the bottom of the 7th to win going away on a walk-off double by Dylan Ohnesorge, 21-11.
Teutopolis drew first blood and built a lead, before Shelby made it a 2-run game in the 6th. When T’town didn’t respond in the top of the 7th, but Shelby sure did. They exploded for 12 runs to gate a 10-run comeback, walk-off win.
T’town led 3-2, then 5-3, then 7-3 through three innings. They upped it to 9-4 through the top of the 5th. Shelby’s 5-run 5th made it a game again 11-9. The 6th was quiet and T’town was blanked again in the 7th. Shelby then lit the fuse.
Down 11-9, Shelby faced the third T’town pitcher and he gave up lead-off walks to Josh Overbeck and Blake Nichols to put the tying runs on. They lifted him for a fourth pitcher.
A dropped 3rd strike to Tyler Hendryx (3-for-6) scored a run. Derek Moschenrose hit into a fielder’s choice that was blown and it was tied, 11-11. Nic Hutchinson launched a sac fly and drove in go-ahead run, 12-11. Shelby had the lead, but wasn’t done.
With one out and two men on, Dylan Ohnesorge walked. Jacob Kramer (3-for-3), already with a double, hit an RBI-single. Tyler Kemper reached on another dropped 3rd strike. Trevor Easton singled another run in.
Overbeck came up again in the inning and was hit by a pitch. After 11 batters had come to the plate, a batter struck out for the just the 2nd out. Hendryx put the ball in play and reached on an error, driving in a run.
Moschenrose smacked a RBI-double and Hutchinson walked. The 15th batter of the 7th, Dylan Ohnesorge, came to the plate with ten runs scored in the inning and two outs. Shelby had come from losing 11-9 to leading 19-11.
