Breivogel, Panick catch limit, Shelby ITT win

It was slim pickens in the first Northern Region tournament of the year for the Illini Team Trail at Lake Shelbyville. Only one team, David Breivogel and Shawn Panick caught the five fish limit. They won the tournament with more than double the weight of the 2nd place team.

Breivogel and Panick brought in a weight 18.08 pounds for their five fish. They also caught the big bass of the day, weighing 6.61 pounds. After the first event, Breivogel and Panick have 118.08 points and a 11.44 points lead.

Kevin Arbaugh and Dewayne Schultz were second, The caught four fish weighing just 7.64 points. Their biggest bass was just 2.09 pounds, more than 4 and a half pounds smaller than Breivogel and Patrick big catch. Arbaugh and Schultz have 106.64 points.

Todd Blakeman and Mark Heil caught three fish, weighing 6.86 pounds to claim 3rd place. They have 104.86 points.

Brian Plank and Kent Oakley also caught three fish, weighing 5.92 pounds. However, Timothy Lane and Joline Pettit, who caught just two fish, weighed them out at 6.29 pounds for 4th place and push Plank and Oakley to 5th. Lane and Pettit have 103.92 points and Plank and Oakley have 101.92 points.

Of the 54 teams of fishermen, only 22 teams caught any fish. Fifteen of those 22 teams caught just one fish. A total of 36 fish was all that was caught by 54 teams.

Shane Haslett and Jake Hartke caught just one fish, but it weighed 3.89 pounds. That was bigger than two teams that caught two fish each and was the second biggest bass of the day.

Haslett and Hartke placed 6th and have 98.89 points. W. Richard Dust and Joe Kreke caught two fish weighing 3.86 pounds for 7th place. Dane McDowell and Garrett McDowell caught two fish, weighing 3.69 points for 8th place.

Lance Dasenbrock and Lee Buchnerkemper caught just one fish, but is was the third biggest bass of the day, weighing 3.39 pounds.
