---- — Girls track was where the stars came out last week, featuring a senior state medalist, Jenny Bullock of Windsor, and a up-and-comer, Morgan Powers of Shelbyville.

Jenny Bullock, a senior sprinter/leaper, was part of the cream that rose to the top last week. Bullock is a 3-time sectional champ. She won the 100 (13.28) in 2010, won the long jump (16-9) in 2011, and won the triple jump (34-3.25) in 2012. She is an 8-time IHSA state qualifier. She has qualified in the 100 dash three times, the long jump three times, and triple jump twice. She medaled last year (8th) in the long jump (17-2.5).

On Monday, Bullock won four events at a St. Anthony quadrangle meet. Bullock won the 100 meter dash (13.1) and the 200 meter dash (27.4). Bullock also won the long jump (15-5) and the triple jump (31-10). She has the fastest time in the area in the 100 (12.3). She has the fourth best long jump in the area (16-5) and the 6th best distance in the triple jump (32-11).

Morgan Powers, a freshman distance runner, was a sectional qualifier last fall in cross country. This spring she has distinguished herself in the middle distances. Powers was the 800 meter champ (2:33.36) at the the Bi-County Meet last week and was 4th in the 400 (1:05.51).

On Friday at the Clinton Invite, Powers repeated as champ in the 800 with a personnel best (2:26.95). That places her 5th in the area for the fastest time. Powers was also 6th in the 400 (1:13.14).
