Okaw Bows At Regional

JOHN CURTIS - Daily Union Sports Editor

Okaw Valley volleyball (7-15) has had their moments this season, including some outstanding personal performances and team upsets. However, their memorable moments ran out on Monday night in the first round of the Arcola 1A Regional, losing to Atwood-Hammond, 25-20, 25-12.

One of their memorable moments was upsetting Atwood-Hammond as the regular season wound down, 25-11, 20-25, 25-19.

In that match, senior leader Shelby Dash recorded 14 digs with 2 aces and one assist. Megan Dash led the net play with a team-high nine kills and four blocks (13 net points). Amy and Blair Monroe joined the block party. Blair had four kills and three blocks, while Amy had three kills and four blocks.

Amy Orris joined Shelby Dash in leading the court defense, digging 12 balls. Mollee Decesaro had one of her best games of the season at setter, dishing 20 of the 22 team assists towards the 26 team kills from seven different hitters.

However, the rematch on Monday at regional didn't follow that same pattern.

After battling in game 1, and losing, the Timberwolves faded quickly in game 2.
