McGill's Fishers Of Men Champs

---- — The Legacy-Illinois Kaskaskia Fishers of Men held their second tournament Friday, June 8, on Lake Shelbyville and a local father/son team caught the limit and the tourney win.

Saturday morning found skies clear, no wind and all the teams anxious to get on the water. By 8 o’clock at least two teams had fish in the live well and when teams came to the scales all but one team had fish.

First place team was father son team of Mike and Dalton McGill of Findlay with full limit of five fish weighing 9.06 pounds to be the only team will a full limit of fish. Second place went to team of Jake Hurst and Jaxson Heintz who thanks to Jaxson had two fish weighing a total of 5.54 pounds and also a big bass that weighed 3.18 pounds. The next biggest bass weighed in at 3.15 pounds caught by another father/daughter team of David and Ashton Doty from Bethany.

The McGill's win moved them up into 6th place in the standings with 200 points, but 4th in winnings ($233), and 2nd in the weight caught, 9.06 pounds to 9.24.

All total there were 16 fish brought to the scales with a total weight of 31.51 pounds.The event got started off with Friday evening meal/meeting at Jonathan Creek Christian Church, Sullivan. Pastor Tim Henderson was supposed to deliver inspirational message but he was in hospital with diagnosis of cardiac problems.

Steve Wallace stepped up and spoke Matthew 4 where Jesus came upon Simon and Andrew had them cast off from shore and let down their nets and even though they had fished all night and caught nothing they lowered their net and caught the largest catch ever.

One team of father, Jason Doty an daughter, Kalia, were fishing Legacy for first time together, normally brother Nathan fishes with Jason, but he had ball game. So Kalia was excited and had been talking about it for a couple of weeks that she sure hoped Nathan had a ball game.
