Ram Track Gets Personal

"No team scores were kept in meet," Ram coach Kevin Kramer. "I thought we performed very well. There were a lot of personal bests."

Distance Medley Relay: The relay consisted of Drennian Martin running an 800 in 2:00, Preston Henze running a 55 400, Kenton Wilson running a 3:22 for 1200 and Marcus Skinner running a 4:39 for 1600.

" This was new event and we ended up winning the race and set meet record of 10:59.87," Coach Kramer said. "We ran real well. Drennian got us out to a lead in his 800 leg and we were never really challenged rest of way."

High Jump: Jordan Smith jumped 6'2" for first place.

"Jordan has been in a little bit of a funk lately, but he did a great job today," Kramer said. "It was good to see him get back on track."

Long Jump: Devin Peterson jumped 18'8" to finish in sixth place. Freshman Jeremy Starwalt went 14'11" for 26th place.

"Devin lengthened his approach and I think it really helped," Kramer said. "This wasn't the greatest place to jump but I thought he did a great job."

Pole Vault: The Rams placed two guys in the event as Sebastian Smith placed fifth with a personal best of 11', Freshman Luke Foltz finished in 8th place with a personal best of 10'. Foltz was top freshman in the meet.

Shot Put: Mikel Welton placed 6th with a 43'8". Freshman Dillon Birch threw a personal best of 41' for 11th place. Dillon was top freshman in the meet.

Discus Throw: Mikel Welton placed 10th with a personal best of 122'6." Garrett Freguson placed 16th with a personal best of 115'3". Freshman Dillon Birch threw a personal best of 95'7" for 33rd.

100 Dash: Devin Peterson ran a 12.02 to win his heat of 100 semi finals and advance to finals. In the finals, he ran a 12.23 to place 8th. Jeremy Starwalt ran a 12.37 for 15th and Keaton Plummer ran a 12.38 for 16th place. Jeremy and Keaton were top two freshman in the meet for 100.
