Devils Drop One To St. A

It was a pitcher’s duel and that allowed Windsor/Stew-Stras (17-5) to take a loss to St. Anthony on Wednesday, 3-2.

St. Anthony drew first blood with a run in the 1st. They went up 3-0 with a 2-run 3rd. W/SS answered with their own 2-spot. But from the 3rd inning on the pitchers and the defense was in control.

The top of the W/SS order and the #9 hitter were the only ones who figured in the Devil offense. Hayden Cole, the #4 hitter, drew a walk.

Alex Allen, the #1 hitter, took the loss, but also was 1-for-2. Brandon Helmuth, the #2 hitter, had a single, a stolen base, a run and an RBI. Christian Vonderheide, the #3 hitter, had a double, a sacrifice fly and an RBI. The #9 hitter, Devon Deremiah was 1-for-2.

St. Anthony got two sacrifice flies from Braden Puckett for two of the three Bulldogs scores and he scored the other run.
