Central A&M softball (12-19) routed St. Elmo/Brownstown in the first round of the Ramsey 1A regional on Monday, 24-4, then roughed up Nokomis on Wednesday in the semi, 15-5.
Morgan Damery led the Raider hit squad, smacking her fifth home run of the season (a new CAM record) and recorded five RBI’s.
A&M got busy out of the gate. Taylor Jordan led off the game with a single ans stole 2nd and 3rd. Kaley Hennings walked, and Rachel Friesner reached on an error. With one out, Mo Hunter hit a 2-run double. Alyssa Kresin and Kayla Gibson followed with RBI-singles.
Olivia Jordan reached on an error and Lexee Smith hit into a fielder’s choice. Taylor Jordan came up again in the 1st and hit an RBI-single and stole 2nd. Hennings singled. Friesner was hit by a pitch, then Damery clobbered a 2-run double for a 9-0 lead before St. Elmo even got to bat.
A&M came back to the plate and teed off again. Hunter walked and, with one out Gibson walked. Olivia Jordan singled and Lexee Smith singled two runs home. Taylor Jordan and Hennings walked. Friesner singled two runs in, before Damery rocketed her 3-run homer for the 17-0 lead.
The Raiders scored five runs in the 4th. Damery and Hunter walked and Kresin singled. With bases loaded, Gibson singled two runs in. A fielders choice gave A&M two outs, but a 20-2 lead. Collins pinch hit and hit an RBI-single. Miller pinch hit and walked. Denton pinched hit and reached on an error for a 22-2 lead.
In the 5th, Kresin singled with one out and Gibson walked. With two outs, Smith walked. With the bases jammed, Collins slapped a 2-run single to cap the score, 24-4.
