Moulton Nipped, then Blasted

After the high-scoring 1-run loss on Monday, the Shelbyville Moulton softball team went to St. Anthony on Tuesday and suffered a low-scoring, 1-run loss, 4-3. Thursday, Shelby got T-towned on the road, 16-6.

St. Anthony got a down payment in the bottom of the 1st with a solo run. Shelby retired six of the next seven batters in the 2nd and 3rd. Shelby had runners on base in three of the first four innings, but couldn’t get them in. St. Anthony made it 2-0 in the 4th with a 2-out walk and an error.

In the top of the 5th, Shelby finally got on the board. With one out, back-to-back walks to Kendyll Dunaway and Amber Rezinas was followed by back-to-back singles from Hannah Kemp and Blair Rodman and back-to-back walks to Sydney Trainor and Maggie Furr. That put Shelby into the lead, 3-2.

St. Anthony answered back in the bottom of the 5th, again with two outs. A hit batter and a triple gave them a 4-3 lead. Shelby was hitless in the 6th and 7th and lost again by one run.
