The Shelbyville Lady Rams broke open a 1-1 ball game in the 3rd to leave a deflated Argenta team in the dust on Monday, 5-1.
AO's pitcher, Turner was getting the Rams to swing at balls out of the zone early and a wild pitch gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead that lasted for two innings. The Rams knotted the score in the 3rd, then flipped a switch for a 3-run rally in the 4th to get separation.
Argenta used small ball to get the early lead. They got a lead-off hit from Ulray, then had back-to-back sacrifices to get Ulray to 3rd with two outs. A wild pitch by Grace Moll allowed Ulray to score for the lead. Moll then rang up the batter, but was behind until the 3rd.
Turner pitched well and the Rams didn't have a good approach at the plate, not having a base runner until the 3rd.
AO got their first batter on again in the 2nd via being hit, but a fielder's choice and a sacrifice couldn't get the run home, before Moll rang up the last batter.
Moll gave up another hit and a walk in the 3rd, but Abbie Watton had a 3-unassisted play and Moll struck out two batters.
Finally, with one out in the 3rd, Lindsey Eigsti, the #8 batter, got a hit. The #9 batter, Courtney Williams blasted a pitch over the head of the center fielder for a double. Eigsti held up at 3rd, but Jensen Cloe followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, driving Eigsti home and tying the score, 1-1.
Withe the score tied in the 4th, Moll gunned down all three AO batters, two of them on three pitches and the other on a 3-2 pitch.
The Rams came to the plate and rattled the bats. Moll drew a lead-off walk and Boone blasted a ball at the 3rd baseman that she couldn't handle. Both runners were safe. Brandy Smith then launched a ball deep to left field that the backing fielder couldn't put away. Moll scored from 2nd, sliding in home to beat the tag, 2-1.
