W/SS Explodes Beats Neoga

W/SS baseball extended their record to 14-4 on Monday, thanks to a 6th inning, 5-run explosion for a 7-3 win.

It was a good game and a pitching duel between Christian Vonderheide of W/SS and Riley Walk of Neoga. Vonderheide went six innings, giving up three runs, on five hits and three walks, while striking out eight. Walk went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits and three walks, while striking out seven.

Neoga took a 2-0 lead out of the gate. W/SS got one run back, then for three innings nobody could score. Neoga made 3-1 in the top of the 5th, but Windsor got it right back, for a 3-2 score, heading into the 6th. Neoga was held scoreless in the top of the inning, but in the bottom of the inning, Windsor/Stew-Stras broke the game open and chased Walk into the dugout with a 5-run rally.

Neoga couldn’t muster a comeback in the top of the 7th and W/SS got their 14th win, to go 10 games over .500.

Four W/SS batters had multiple hits and four drove in runs. Vonderheide helped his own cause, going 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in a run. Trey Leasher was 2-for-3. Alex Allen was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Gunner Theis was 2-for-4 with a run and three runs driven in.
