Devils Dump BC, Bit By Dawgs

Windsor softball (8-6, 5-1 NTC) bedeviled Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick on Monday, 10-0, but then was caught from behind and bit in the pants by the St. Anthony Bulldogs on Tuesday, 7-6.

The Monday game was a blowout with devil ace Lindsay Floyd throwing her fourth no-hitter of the year and just missing a perfect game by one walk. The Tuesday game was a big time conference match-up robbed of a climax. The game was called after the 6th inning in favor due to rain.

Windsor loaded up on BCCH. Floyd rang up the first two batters, then Maggie Reed threw out the third. Windsor then got to BCCH for two runs in the 1st.

Dani Bell drew a lead-off walk and stole 2nd. Floyd singled her over and Whitney Kuhl grounded out, scoring Bell. Reed grounded out, scoring Floyd, 2-0 Devils. Kassy Strowmatt singled, but was left on. A couple pop outs and another K kept BCCH off the base paths in the 2nd.

With one out in the 2nd, Allie Bridges drew a walk. With two outs, Bell singled, Floyd hit an RBI single and Kuhl had a 2-run single, 5-0 Devils. Strowmatt singled again in the 3rd and Charley Bailey sacrificed, but Strowmatt was stranded. Floyd retired BCCH in order again, single-handedly. She struck out two and threw the other out from the mound.

Windsor got a lead-off walk and a stolen base from Bayleigh Tabor in the 4th, followed by a Bell RBI-double. Floyd reached on an error and Kuhl reached on an error, scoring Bell. With two outs, Strowmatt got her third straight hit, an RBI-single, 8-0 Devils.

Floyd's perfect game faded with a lead-off walk on a 3-2 pitch in the 5th to the opposing pitcher, Kirby Herrmann. Floyd answered with a K, Mercedes Austin caught a pop up and Floyd rang up the fourth batter.
