Garrett Brachbill started the attack with a lead-off double. With one out, Lucas Duckett reached on a dropped 3rd strike. Bart Kennell and Quinton Reedy reached on errors and Zach Williams hit a sac fly. Brachbill and Duckett scored.
A&M knotted the score in the top of the 3rd. A lead-off walk was followed by Meyer ringing up the next two batters, but a walk, a double, a walk and a single made it 2-2.
The tie didn’t last. In the bottom of 3rd, the Rams came back with three runs. Meyer led off with a single and got to 2nd on an error. He stole 3rd and Kennell smacked a double. Williams reached on an error and stole 2nd. Kennell scored. With two outs, Ryan Stenger singled a run in.
Meyer rang up three batters in the 4th, but the other two reached on an error and a single. Both scored to make it a 1-run ball game, 5-4. The bottom of the 4th was a watershed as the Rams erupted for six runs.
Tyler Nichols was hut by a pitch to lead off the inning. Brachbill and Meyer had consecutive hits. Lucas Duckett drew a walk and Kennell reached on an error. Zach Williams walked and Jordan Smith smacked a double. With two outs, Josh Foster reached on an error and Durbin drew a walk and the Rams went up, 11-4.
A walk, an error and another walk put the first three A&M batters on in the 5th. The Rams threw two strikeouts, but a single, made it 11-6. It still wouldn’t be enough for A&M to come back.
The bottom of the 5th was a burial of A&M. Sixteen Rams came to the plate and 11 of them scored. Meyer singled, Duckett walked and Kennell hit a 2-run double. Williams reached, putting the first five Ram batters on base. With two outs, Connor White hit a 2-run double. Durbin singled, followed by singles from Brachbill and Meyer. Duckett walked and Kennell singled. Williams reached on an error and Smith and Stenger hit back-to-back singles, making it 22-6.
