SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville Moulton 7th grade used an upset to vault them to the Tuscola East Prairie 7-3a Regional Championship game. They started rough, but fought back to come within two points of forcing a decisive game 3, before bowing out of the season, 8-25, 24-26.
"We had a great season as a team this year," said Ram 7th coach Elizabeth Fanning. "I can't wait to see what these girls will do in the future."
Jayde Fox led the Rams at the line, while Hannah Kemp and Lauren Russell led Shelby at the net. Fox served up eight points and delivered a team-high two aces. Kemp swung for a team high three kills and Russell followed with two.
Though Fox led at the line, there was a balanced Ram service attack. Three players, Elizabeth Bowyer, Isabel Logue, and Kemp, served six points, each, and each of them had one ace. Malori Johns and Russell had served points, each.
Kemp also the defense with three of the five digs. In addition to one dig, Bowyer rose up for the only Ram block.
The Moulton 7th finished the season playing for the regional championship and with a winning record (10-9) and a .500 conference record (5-5), despite having to learn on the fly.
