Lady Ram 7th Gets 1st Win, 8th Loses

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Shelbyville 7th grade girls basketball got their first win of the season on Thursday, edging Meridian, 14-12. The Moulton 8th grade took a loss, 43-16.

Sydney Trainor led the Rams in scoring with eight of the 14 points, while Danielle Lochbaum was the chairman of the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds.

It was a up beat 1st period with both teams scoring half their points and going into the 2nd  period tied, 6-6. Shelby scored in the 2nd and shut out Meridian. That would be  the difference in the ball game.

In the 2nd half the teams traded 4-2 quarters, leaving the Rams up by two at the final buzzer. Three Rams scored, Lockbaum, Trainor, and Hannah Karraker ( 2 points). Meridian only had two players score, Herbert (8) and Walker (4).

Shelbyville plays host to Sullivan Monday at 6 p.m., then travels to Pana Sacred Heart on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
