Roy, Biehler Boost Panthers

Over the last few years, a pair of Shelby Area athletes earned spots on the Eastern Illinois University women's track team and spent four years sparking the Panthers.

Jaimee Roy of Neoga, an IHSA state champ, and Paige Biehler of Shelbyville, an IHSA state runner-up, both have all-time Top 10 marks in EIU history.

In high school, Roy competed for Neoga High School and qualified for the IHSA Class A State Meet in four events as a senior. Roy was the Class A State Champion in long jump at 19-4. She placed third in triple jump with distance of 37-10. She also earned a state berth in 100 dash and 4x200 meter relay. She tied for 1st in 100 dash at Shelbyville Sectional.

She placed 6th in long jump and 5th in triple jump at the 2008 IHSA Class 1A State Meet as a sophomore, placed 3rd in IHSA Class 1A triple jump and 6th in long jump.

As a freshman at EIU, Roy competed in 2010 indoor and outdoor track in jumps. Roy was 4th at the indoor OVC Championships with a season best indoor long jump mark of 18-8. That distance ranks 9th on the EIU career list.

During outdoor season Roy long jumped 19-9.5 at the SIUE Gateway Meet which ranked 2nd on the EIU career list. Roy earned a trip to the NCAA Regional where she placed 47th with a mark of 17-1.25. Roy competed in the long jump at the USA Track & Field Junior National Championships placing 14th.

As a sophomore, Roy competed in the 2011 indoor and outdoor track. She was a 3rd place finisher at the OVC Championships in both the long jump and triple jump. She had a season best mark of 37-8 in the triple jump. Her time ranks 9th on EIU career list. Roy competed in long jump and triple jump during the outdoor season. She was 3rd in the long jump at the OVC Championships. Her season best long jump was 18-3 at the Stan Lyons Invite.

As a junior, Roy competed in 2012 indoor and outdoor track seasons. She competed in the long jump and triple jump during the indoor season. Her season best long jump was 18-8.75 at the OVC Championships. Roy placed 5th. That distance ranks 7th on the EIU career list. Her best triple jump was 35-5.75 at the EIU Early Bird. During the outdoor season, she competed in long jump and triple jump. Her season best long jump was 18-7.25 at the OVC Championships. Her season best triple jump was 36-4 at the EIU Big Blue.

As a senior, Roy competed in 2013 indoor and outdoor track. She long jumped, triple jumped and ran the 60 meter dash during the indoor season. Her season best long jump was 18-5.75 at the OVC Championships, placing 6th. Her best placement was 3rd at the EIU John Craft Meet (17-1.5). Roy's best triple jump was at the OVC Championships (35-3.25).

During outdoor track, she long jumped, triple jumped and ran the 100 dash. Her season best long jump was 17-10.75 at the OVC Championships. Her best triple jump was 35-0.5, both at the ISU Spring Invite and the OVC Championship

In high school, Paige Biehler competed for Shelbyville High School. She placed second in the state in the 800 run at the IHSA Class 1A state meet with a time of 59.94. She was a four-event state qualifier, competing in the 400, 800, the 4x400 relay and the 4x800 relay.

She holds the SHS school record in both the 400 and 800. She had the second best sectional time in the 800 and 4th fastest state sectional time in the 400.

As a freshman at EIU, Biehler competed during the 2010 indoor track season and red-shirted the 2010 outdoor track season. Biehler ran the 800 run and the 1000 meter run during indoor season. Herr top 800 time was 2:18.96 at the OVC Championships, where she placed 6th.

As a sophomore, Biehler competed during the 2011 indoor and outdoor track seasons. She ran the 800 during the indoor season and was also a member of the Distance Medley Relay team.

She placed 6th at OVC Championships in the 800. Biehler ran a PR of 2:13.50 in the 800 at the NCAA Last Chance Meet. That time ranks 4th on the EIU career list. She was a member of OVC Champion DMR team that set the OVC record in event at 12:06.77. She was a member of DMR team that set a school record at Iowa State with time of 11:55.94. She ran the 800 during the outdoor season with season best time of 2:19.19 at the WKU Hilltopper.

As a junior, Biehler competed in the middle distance events in the 2012 indoor and outdoor track seasons. During the indoor season was a member of the OVC Championship team, running the 600 and 800. Her season best 800 time was 2:17.49 at Grand Valley.

During the outdoor season, Biehler was a member of OVC Championship team running the 800. Her season best 800 time was 2:13.34 at the Louisville Twilight Meet, which ranks 9th on the EIU career list.

Biehler competed in the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2013. Her season-best indoor 800 time was 2:19.69 at Notre Dame Mayo. In the outdoor season, her best times was 2:12.70 at the Louisville Twilight Meet. She also ran the 1500 at the WKU Relays, clocking 4:50.05.
