Stew-Stras Takes St. Anthony To 3

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Stew-Stras was 8-1 in the NTC conference coming in to an important match with St. Anthony (7-0 NTC). The match went the distance, with Stew-Stras tipping the scales their ay in game 1 for an OT win, 27-25. However, St. Anthony got the win, coming back to win the next two games, 25-19, 25-19.

“A very intense game!” said Comet coach Ronda Schlechte. “We played hard and kept our head in the game. Game 3 we let up a bit and played too safe, which let St. A take the lead. I’m very happy with the girls. It’s been awhile since we have played this good.”

Brittani Tabbert led Stew-Sras with a double-double. She led the net attack with 10 kills and dug 11 balls on defense. Kendall Knop had a double-digit performance with a team-high 15 digs, with five aces.

Stew-Stras had nine blocks as a team, led by Lindsay Burton with four blocks (three solo blocks/two assists). She also had five kills.  

Stew-Stras (11-6, 8-2 NTC) varsity and JV (1-11, 1-9 NTC) play at Arcola on Monday starting at 6:15 p.m.
