Terre Haute Torpedoes hosted the Halloween Splash swim meet October 25-27 at Terre Haute South High School in Terre Haute. The Sullivan Blue Dolphins competed well and brought home the 1st place team trophy, as well as many individual trophies for high point totals from various boys and girls age groups.
Noah Spain (age 8) had the most success of the day. Spain competed in 11 individual events and two relays. He captured 9 individuals wins and the other two events he placed 2nd for a total of 170 points. his 2nd and 3rd place relays gave him another 12.5 points, making him accountable for 182.5 points.
Gabrielle Spain (age 10) brought home four 1st places, two 2nds and four 3rds out of her 12 events. With her 4th and 5th place finishes, she totaled 159 points in the meet. She was in one 2nd place relay for another 6.5 points, 165.5 total.
McKenna Kull (age 13) competed in 10 individual events and two relays. She claimed four 1st places, two 2nd, three 3rds, and a 5th for 136 individual points. Her realys both finished 2nd for another 52 points. She accounted for 13 more points on relays for a total of 149 points on the day.
Allison Oligschlaeger (age 12) brought home a 2nd place finish, three 3rd place finishes, and three 4ths. With her 6th place finish she totaled 124 points. Oligschlaeger was also on two winning relays for another 64 team points. With her relay points, Oligschlaeger accounted for 140 points in the meet.
Michaela Donnel (age 15) also got a win for the Dolphins in the 200 backstroke. She also had two 2nds, two 3rds, and two 4ths. With her 5th, 6th and 9th place finishes she amassed 111 points in her 10 events. Donnel was also in two 2nd place relays for 52 more team points. With her relays she totaled 124 points in the meet.
Emily Oligschlaeger (age 8) scored one 3rd place finish in her six events. Lauren Russell (age 12) scored three 4th place finishes in her 10 events. Sydnie Helton (age 13) garnered a pair of runner-up honors.
