SHELBYVILLE, IL. —
Shelbyville basketball went to Tuscola on Tuesday to get their season going again after their run at the Vandalia Holdiay Tourney. One of the Ram scorers that stepped up at Vandy was junior guard Spencer Shadwell. He did it again on Tuesday, lifting the Rams over the Warriors, 49-44.
Shadwell poured in a game-high 18 points. He dialed in three times from long distance, twice in close, and earned his way to the line, making 5-for-7.
Shelby got an early start and used the down payment to provide the margin for victory. Shelby opened with a 15-8 run. Tuscola played even with the Rams in the 2nd, but still trailed by eight at the break, 27-19.
Tuscola used their home court to cut into the Ram lead in the 3rd period. Shelby was still up by four heading into crunch time, 39-35.
It all came down to the final 8:00 and tough Ram defense. The Rams have been there before and the experience paid off. They held Tuscola to just nine points and hung on for the win, 49-44.
