Shelbyville Bounces Back, Then Loses

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — After dropping a game to Sullivan last week, the Shelbyville Rams bounced back with a lopsided win over Clinton in the OVC tourney on Friday, 61-34.

The Rams charged over Clinton from the opening tip with a 19-7 run. They deepened the cut in the 2nd period with a 21-7 run to go up by 26 points at the break, 40-14.

The Rams kept the pressure on in the 3rd with a 17-6 run. With a commanding 37-point lead heading into the 4th, 57-20, the Rams coasted.

Despite the bounce back win on Friday, the Rams had to face higher-seeded Central A&M on Saturday and were turned away, 62-49.

The Rams got out to an early lead in the 1st 12-8. Then the Raiders battled back with a 17-11 run to take a 2-point lead at the half, 25-23. The Ram defense did the job in the 3rd and were still within a possession, trailing 38-35.

Down the stretch the Raiders ran away with the game on a 24-14 run. The Rams could not account for Reece Ade and his 20 points (2 treys), Bray’s trey hat trick and were out-shot at the line.

The Rams were 9-of-12 at the stripe, but A&M shot 22 free throws and made 16, a 7-point advantage at the line. A&M also had a 6-point edge from the arc accounting for the 13-point win.
