Lady T'Wolves snag Hawks

Okaw Valley girls knocked off rural rival Meridian on Monday, 44-38.

The Lady T’Wolves got a good start with a 14-9 run in the 1st. They upped their lead to seven points by the break, 21-14. Meridian opened a can of catch-up in the 3rd, exploding with a 17-8 run and taking a 2-point lead facing the final frame, 31-29.

But Okaw had another magazine of ammo and responded. The Timberwolves out-toughed Meridian with a final 15-7 run to pass them up and pull away for the 6-point win.

Okaw had nobody in double figures. They used balanced scoring, solid free throw shooting and four 3-pointers to get the win. Senior guard Mollee Decesaro led the way with eight points, with a trey. Abigail Weybright scored seven points, with a triple.

Underclassman Paige Harlin added six points, with a 3-pointer, and Megan Dash had six points. leading scorer Amanda McClain had five points and Shelby Dash had four points. Amy Orris hit one shot from the arc.

Meridian shot themselves in the foot at the foul line. They earned 30 free throw attempts, but made just 11. Okaw shot 8-of-12.
