Shelby Splits With Charleston

Shelby Legion went to Charleston and salvaged a split. After dropping game 1, 8-3, Shelby caught fire and won the nightcap, 12-5.

Charleston led 8-0 in the 6th, before Shelby finally produced some runs. Gunner Theis sparked the 3-run rally with a 1-out home run to dead center. Hayden Cole followed with a single and Andrew Hawkins snacked his second double of the game, to make it 8-2. With two outs, Jake Baker singled Hawkins home to cap the scoring, 8-3.

In game 1, Charleston scored eight runs, before Shelby got on the board. It was the opposite in game 2. Shelby went up 7-0, before Charleston scored.

Shelby smacked 10 hits and had 25 base runners, while four Shelby pitchers held Charleston to just five hits and 11 base runners.

Shelby drew first blood in the 1st. Mike Baker led off with a single. Neil Yockey followed with a single. Baker stole 3rd. Theis hit into a double play, but Baker scored, 1-0.

Theis started for Shelby and held Charleston in check with three hit-less innings, while Shelby upped their lead.

In the 3rd, Trevor Moore drew a lead-off walk and Mike Baker doubled. Moore scored and Yockey drew a walk. Yockey stole 2nd. Baker scored on a sac fly by Theis and Yockey went to 3rd on an error. Cole hit a sac fly scoring Yockey for a 4-0 lead.

In the 4th, Miller drew a lead-off walk. He went to 2nd and 3rd on wild pitches and scored on a ground out to 2nd, 5-0 Shelby
