Bence Plans to Attend Millikin

DECATUR, Ill. Brody Bence of Shelbyville has indicated he plans to attend Millikin University and play basketball for Big Blue Head Coach Matt Nadelhoffer. An Honor Roll student, Bence plans to major in Communication at Millikin.

“We identified Brody during his junior year as someone we wanted in our basketball program,” said Nadelhoffer. He is big at 6’8” and can shoot the basketball, run the floor and score in a variety of ways. Brody comes from a great family and I know Coach Mike Steers (Millikin Basketball Alum) prepared him for the college game. We are very excited to have Brody join the Big Blue family.”

Bence earned three varsity letters in basketball at Shelbyville High School. He was named to the Okaw Conference All-Conference First Team in both his junior and senior years.

As a senior he was the Shelbyville Daily Union Winter Male Athlete of the Year, named First Team All-Area by the Mattoon Journal Gazette and selected All-Area Honorable Mention the Decatur Herald & Review. As a senior, Bence averaged 15 points, 6.5 rebounds, two blocks and 1.5 assists per game.

Brody is the son of Tim and Denise Bence of Shelbyville.

The 2012-13 Millikin basketball team made great strides under Nadelhoffer and a new era in Millikin men’s basketball is truly underway. Nadelhoffer is looking for a few key recruits to add to the wealth of talent that returns for the Big Blue. Nadelhoffer is on track in his mission of restoring a winning tradition to the Millikin men’s basketball program.
