Schwengel Plans To Attend Millikin

Record Setting Ram QB Goes Blue

SHELBYVILLE, IL. —

DECATUR, Ill. Tucker Schwengel of Shelbyville has indicated he plans to attend Millikin University and play football for Big Blue Head Coach Patrick Etherton.

"We are very excited that Tucker has decided to continue his career at Millikin University," said Etherton.  "We had the opportunity to watch Tucker play a lot of football and basketball over the past two years and our coaches have been impressed with him as a leader as well as a player. He has had a great high school career and we look for him to continue that success at Millikin. Tucker comes from an offense that is similar to what we run at Millikin and we look for him to have an easy transition into our system. Our coaching staff strives to keep the local talent at Millikin University and we did a great job of keeping Tucker in the area."

Schwengel earned three varsity letters in football at Shelbyville High School at quarterback. A versatile athlete, Schwengel also lettered in basketball and baseball for the Rams. Schwengel was the Rams Most Valuable Offensive Player and earned the Shelbyville Daily Union's Fall Athlete of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, Schwengel was 124-204 passing for a school record 1,992 yards with 20 touchdowns. He rushed for 718 yards and seven touchdowns. Schwengel set a new Shelbyville school record for passing in a career with 4,711 yards. As a senior, Schwengel was a unanimous All-Okaw Conference First Team selection at quarterback. He was Honorable Mention All-Area and Honorable Mention All-State. Schwengel was selected to play in the Illinois High School Shrine game.

Off the field, Schwengel was an Honor Roll student, a DARE Role Model, a member of the Principal's cabinet and selected for Boy's State. Tucker is the son of Kenny and Stephanie Schwengel of Shelbyville.
