---- — Shelbyville girls track went to the Clinton Invite on Friday and ran into the teeth of a stiff wind and chilly temps. They used it as a working meet and still finished in the middle of the pack, taking 6th out of 11 teams.
Individually, the distance girls led the way. Morgan Powers beat the field in the 800 meter run (2:26.95), improving her previous best of 2:29.65. She has the sixth fastest time in the area. She also scored 6th in the 400 (1:13.14). Molly Yockey took 3rd in the 3200 meter run (13:00.85) and Blair Johnston was 4th in the 1600 run, breaking 6:00 (5:58.89).
Shelby’s 4x4 relay team, Morgan Powers, Brooke Cieplik, Keeley Buhrmester and Taylor Powers also took a 4th (4:54.67). Elly Oldham was 4th in the pole vault (6-6).
The Lady Rams, as well as their male team members, will be at home on Tuesday, hosting St. Anthony. On Friday, the girls are set to go to Monticello and the boys to Newton.
