---- — After a season with wins few and far between, Stew-Stras won their second straight game on Friday. They were led by a big time performance by Brandon Helmuth, swatting the Cowden-Herrick Hornets, 64-42.

Helmuth scored 29 points, scoring 12 times from the floor, including two treys and a perfect 3-of-3 at the line. He also had 11 rebounds for a double-double, seven steals and five assists. Helmuth had 11 of his 29 points down the stertch. Jason Fry was the other Comet in double figures, scoring 14 with his own trey, all in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

The Comets made twice as many field goals as the Hornets. So, even though the Hornets made twice as many free throws (11-of-20), they couldn’t make up for the disparity from the floor. The two teams had three treys each.
