Devils Nearly Upset Arcola

Windsor was not expected to a threat in this game, but they almost stole it, losing at Arcola on Friday by just two points, 55-53.

Tristan Warner scored a game and season-high 28 points for the Devils, scoring nine times from the floor, including a trey hat trick and 7-of-9 free throw shooting. Hayden Cole stepped up for 11 points, including two of his own treys. On the day that Alex Allen signed to play baseball next year at Kaskasia, he pushed the ball and scored with eight points, including a perfect 4-of-4 at the stripe.

Windsor held Arcola to nine points and trailed by just one after a defensive 1st, 9-8. The Devils then exploded in a jailbreak 2nd, for 17 points. Arcola was close behind and Windsor held 2-point lead at the break, 25-23.

Arcola took the lead back in the 3rd in another defensive period, 36-34. The fateful 4th was another jailbreak as the two teams posted 38 points in 8:00, averaging 4.5 points every minute. They matched each other 19-19, which left the Devils still two points shy at the final buzzer.

Arcola outscored Windsor 32-26 from 2-point territory. Windsor out-scored Arcola 15-9 from the arc. The two teams tied from the floor 41-41. It came down to free throws. Windsor shot 19 and made 12 (75%). Arcola had 20 free throws and made 14 (70%), enough for the 2-point win.
