Devils Get Double Win To Open NTC

SHELBYVILLE, IL. — Windsor had a good night on opening night of the NTC tourney, getting a double win. They took care of business against Altamont in two games, 25-22, 25-22, and dominated Beecher City, 25-10, 25-7.

They were both good team wins, with everyone making a significant contribution and sharing in the effort. Seven different hitters joined in the 44-kill attack in the two matches. The two setters, Lindsay Floyd (17) and Olivia Williamson (21), dished out 38 of the 41 team assists towards the 44 kills (86%).

Senior Jenny Bullock led the way with 12 kills. Sophomore Paige Woolard followed with 10 kills. Senior Kassy Strowmatt and Freshman Autumn Bennett both swung for 5 kills, each. Seniors Charley Bailey and Erin Mowry had 4 kills, each. Senior Bailey McQueen, back from injury, had 2 kills and even libero Dani Bell had a pair of kills.

The Devils had only four blocks all night. Woolard had 1.5, while Bullock and Mowry had one, each.

The Devil mid-court defense dug a solid 36 balls. They would have had more digs, but one opponenet didn't have much of an attack.

Dani Bell led the defense with 12 digs, followed by Bullock with 9 digs. Senior defender Amanda Tucker stepped up with seven digs and also

Windsor delivered an impressive 17 aces. Tucker led the way, serving 5 aces, a team high. Bell, Bullock, and Floyd had three aces, each. Woolard had two and Williamson one.

Despite some losses they wish they had back, WIndsor is still just three wins away from another 20-win season, something the program has become accustomed to. The Devils have to find away of exorcizing Stew-Stras on Friday and then get at least one win on Saturday. They then have a final game on the road at Arthur before the postseason.

Windsor (17-9) plays Stew-Stras in the NTC tourney Friday at 6 p.m., then enters the championship round on Saturday.
