Neoga, CHBC gets qualifiers

Neoga girls placed 3rd at the Newton Sectional on Friday and qualified six entries for the IHSA Class A State Track Meet.

Newton won the meet with 135 points and Teutopolis was 2nd (125). Neoga scored 72 points. CHBC scored 14 points for 10th.

Newton claimed one individual sectional championship when Courtney Croy won the 200 dash (26.40). Croy also was 2nd in the long jump (17-3.5) earning her another state berth. Neoga relay teams had two runner-up finishes in the 4x1 (52.46) and the 4x2 (1:50.44), giving them two more state entries. Erin Walk was 2nd in the high jump (5-2) to qualify her for State. The final state qualifier was Olivia Ott who placed 3rd in the long jump with a state-qualifying distance (16-11).

The other state qualifier from the Shelby Area was Ava Paruleski of CHBC. Paruleski was the triple jump sectional champ with a distance of 34 feet even. She was also 4th in the sectional high jump (4-10).
